Dingwall Camp 2022 strengthened connections to one another and the whenua. The beauty of Kaiaua provided space and serenity to wind down after a tough year dealing with a pandemic. Attendees reflected on the past year and reset to prepare for the future. Games and challenges meant tamariki and rangatahi showed leadership and teamwork. Laughter rang out constantly during activities over the three days.
Everyone was divided into four teams competing in multiple challenges. Bubble soccer was a favourite, though debatable whether scoring goals or bumping each other off the ball was the primary aim! A successful visit to Tapapakanga Regional Park included stunning scenery and a yummy bbq. The scavanger hunt – complete with dance-off challenge – and a sand sculpture competition kept everyone busy between swimming and eating. Tamariki and rangatahi delighted caregivers and organisers with connection, respect, nuture and courage throughout the three-day camp.
The general consensus? “Next year, we want a longer camp!!”
