Dingwall Trust popped in on the Counties Manukau Quilters’ Guild recently to find the team hard at work making individual, named Christmas stockings for every tamariki and rangatahi in our care. Each one is unique and a work of art in itself.
Under the guidance of organiser Elaine Orum, the clever, crafty women had hired out the Friends House at Auckland’s Botanic Gardens for a day of quilting and sewing to get the majority of 50 stockings required underway.
Like the community quilts the Guild often donates to Dingwall, the stockings are made with love and care, with individual thought and creativity going into each one.
Elaine, who had spent three days embroidering all the name tags to be sewn on each stocking, says much of the Christmas fabric had been donated, for which they were very grateful.
Thank you, ladies, we can’t wait to pass them on to tamariki to hang up for Santa’s visit this year!
